Food again….
So many foods put stress on our body in the way we cook it, add to it (manufacturer’s trying to make it taste nice, either with fructose, sugar, artificial sweeteners, salt and other flavour enhancers), even BBQ meat add more carcinogens to our body. I hear that MacDonalds are taking out the corn syrup (addictive due to the Dopamine pathway it affects, same as other addictive drugs) which were in the fries and buns. My question is – why would you even add it to ordinary foods. OOOH I know it’s addictive and will make you keep coming back for more. A great sales technique, just more insidious.
SO foods that can help you particularly
Cannellini beans or white beans, not everybody’s fav but they can help with lowering the cortisol in your brain and body, there is a high level of resistant starch so that leads to weight loss and regulate blood sugar – essential if you lean towards diabetes.
Dark Chocolate – hmmmm yum. The polyphenols and flavonols help lower blood pressure and lowers anxiety. Studies showed that eating 1 ½ ounces (30-40grms) every day for two weeks does this. Other studies have shown by eating this amount about 1 hour before exercise that your performance will be better. It brings more blood to the muscles to use them more efficiently when exercising. Good news for us chocolate lovers- a perfect excuse. Cacao has been used medicinally for centuries for many things and now science has caught up – yay 🙂
Rosemary– Most of us have it in our gardens and often put on lamb as a garnish. Now Burnham Medical Research has shown that it protects against cognitive damage or aging and can help reverse this. They use this herb against Alzheimer’s disease and helps reverse the damage done to the beta amyloid components in the hippocampus. The carnosic acid protects the brain against free radical damage (strokes etc.) (Cell Journal) Put the fresh herb in a hot cup of water and infuse with lid on then drink. Helps us think better.
Turmeric spice is also a super spice. It has been shown to help against cancer (keeping the original DNA healthy not to be changed into a cancerous DNA). It is also a potent anti-inflammatory and helps against arthritis osteo and rheumatoid. Not many Indians get arthritis interestingly.
Cherries are amazing fruits, not only does it aid everything to do with the circulatory system, preventing heart disease, high blood pressure, prevents deterioration of the memory cells in the brain. Potent anti-inflammatory and can help athletes after a workout in the recovery, and reduces joint soreness.
Kiwi fruit are also amazing wee fruits. Aids in alleviation of respiratory issues, helps defend prostate and ovarian cancers. Aids digestion and helps prevent digestion disorders. If Stressed the bowel can play up – either too loose or not moving at all. Kiwi fruit helps stabilise the digestion.
Basically eat fresh, especially fruits and dark chocolate but obviously nothing in excess but everything in moderation.
Have a good week. 🙂
