A little more on how to relax at night…

Blog 24 3th October 2016

I trust you have maybe tried a technique or two to wind down before you get home to aid your stress levels and bring them down. Remember chronic tiredness and low level stress make cortisol continue to circulate your body.  Relaxing and taking time out helps lessen or stop the low level cortisol as does good sleep. Try the Delta wave at night helps the sleep to be efficient and deep.

Today I have noticed how many wee sayings to inspire and aid you to get to a better life… They are becoming more frequent of FB and on cards.  I like them don’t get me wrong, however I do find it irritating when people try to false it down your throat.  It’s nice to share but I have noticed from my 20 years of clinical experience that you notice them when you are receptive and needing these kind of messages.  It will bring attention to it.  A bit like; you have just bought a blue vehicle and now all you can see is either blue cars that look like yours or different models of the same style.
People are noticing new ways to life – thank goodness.  If they are able, more and more people are working from home, this can be good in some respects but a bit isolating, we as social creatures need to meet with people.  Work places cover that but that can be too much of one thing. Like with anything we need to find a comfortable compromise for all parties.  Work/Employer & Home/Family. Life Balance that’s the key.  Trying to do it in this busy world can be near impossible.  What can be useful is setting out 4 hours of you time a week.  This may sound really hard at first.  But you time can be take the kids to the beach and yourself and partner can tag team whilst the kids are occupied.
Going on a walk in nature by yourself, whilst the other makes dinner.  I know it can be overwhelming just to find that time but everybody needs time to themselves.  It takes practice to say “no” to someone you love or to an invitation.
Simple Ortho-bionomy® self-care can give you a little time out eg: for the lower back  – lie on the floor with your feet calves on the couch or chair. Breath out and allow your back to flatten and settle into the floor.  Stay there for 10 minutes.  Similarly the coffin pose in yoga, Lie on your back flat or a cushion under the knees.  Palms up elbows straight. Close your eyes and tighten every muscle in your body and squeeze tight for about 10 secs then let go and relax your whole body.   Set your phone for a short time, 5, 10 or 20 minutes and observe your breath.
Try these and it takes practice finding a little time.  You aren’t being selfish you are self-preserving.
Have a great week.
