Hello everyone, I trust you are observing and not forming opinions …
Today I’m going to talk about how to rest down and wind down after work and before bed. SO here’s a scenario: It’s been busy from work and you have a 45 minute commute to get home, there is either a child or children and normally when you walk in, the kids come rushing towards you and are wanting your attention for something, you just need the head space, the day has been really busy cognitively and the brain needs to still. Instead you would like 30 mins to sit and do nothing, to gather your energy, wits and brain back together. Ideally sitting in a cave with nothing but a beer, tea, snack, paper etc and get the head together. This is what is mentioned in “Men are from Mars, women are from Venus”. It does work – However we do not have the luxury of living in the fifties, where only one parent worked and the other stayed home. Now often both parents work, picking up the kids from day care of after school care. It would seem in order to get ahead with property, both parents need to work and get the bills paid, mortgage and so on. As the rates rise, expenditure goes up – sadly the salaries do not go up equally. So we’re under more stress to make ends meet.
We could probably live more simply but the social media keeps putting choices up on the net. We want them, or have to have them as technology will leave us behind, or that is the perception. This gradually happens especially in telecommunications. It’s happening in schools, teaching with ipad’s and so it goes on and on and on.
Whilst driving home or on the train pug into either Alpha or Theta waves, find them on You Tube or download onto the phone and listen just for 20 mins if possible. The music allows the mind to rest cognitively, put your brain waves into a gentle rhythm. So the mind can become empty, letting the day’s business not encroach into your mind now that the day is over (hopefully), and to now spend time with the family in a gentle accepting way. Snack on fruit when you are home or on your way, it will pick up the lapsing blood sugar (it can make some irritable if haven’t eaten for several hours).
Have a good stretch when you get home, touch toes, twist or bend your back gently, move your shoulders around and let go of the day’s computer and work station. Have a glass of water and then see if you still feel like a glass of wine or beer. If you do – enjoy it. Relax with the family, read books to the kids and watch a bit of tv. Delta waves on the phone/computer can help (cover over the glow), plug in and sleep if possible.
Have a good week.

I’ll definitely try your suggestion out the next time I go home. I need to have a patient and calm mind, whenever I’m travelling home. I tend to be easily irritated because of stress and anxiety. I’ve been trying to find new ways on how to stay calm whenever I’m alone. Hopefully, this is the solution that I’ve been waiting for.
