Trips travelling around the world.
Well I have now been in New York, walking around and watching how people deal with stress. Or do they actually deal with it or rather just live with it. Everybody are huddled and cold, and it would seem in a rush. The weather doesn’t really help I’m sure.
What I notice about the most of America is that they love sugar! Walking down 5th Avenue in Soho and about all I could smell was sugar or rather caramelised something. My friend said it was peanuts and sugar. No surprises there.
Travelling around to so many places in a short period of time certainly wears and tears at the body. Different time zones, different planes and airports. All new places that have to be learnt, departure gates to navigate. The American airlines in the states board people in the most bizarre way. The board by group, up to 5 groups on the bigger planes. So it means everyone is allowed on no matter where they sit. So in the first couple of groups that get allowed on board could be sitting at the back, middle or in the front, and from what I observed is that it slows everything up as people jostle for bag space in the overhead baggage holders. It takes so long. Here it seems to be much more simple; back of the plane first, front of the plane last. Even in Hong Kong Air New Zealand did it this way. Lufthansa also did this. Seems only in America.
If travelling along way here’s some things worth thinking about to ease any stress. When leaving a place always check for passport and purse/money/cards. Everything else can be bought again. Wear easy slip on off shoes as places still check. Wear comfy pants with lots of give, sitting for any longer than 3-4 hours tight pants can become uncomfortable. Everything swells, legs, waist line, ankles and fingers especially. If you are going to the States its worth picking up melatonin (here it is prescribed by your doctor and works out to be 50 cent a tablet) as this helps regulate your sleep between time zones and flying. It is a natural neurotransmitter to activate the pineal gland which signals the body whether it is sleep time or awake time. Melatonin helps the sleep patterns. Less jetlag. There is a product called “Jetlag” which is homeopathic and certainly helps some people. Definitely drink more and move your ankles regularly.
If going through to Europe and have enough time between connecting flights in Asia there are showers. It’s worth taking a clean set of undies and it’s good to clean the body. I have found it makes you feel less “grey” and drained. Most airports have them and offer tooth brushes, towels and creams the rest is up to you. J Some people also take a course of Echinacea or Olive leaf to stop them picking up bugs. Others seem to wear a face mask. ?!
If you are travelling soon have a great trip.
